I found this little ditty while doing as google search. I have had a few chills there at night, but never experienced anything too out of the ordinary. Does anyone have a story to relate?

Re: ghosts at SFAI?
Tue, June 15, 2004 - 7:43 PMThe closest thing to that I can tell you is that I heard some student hung himself there. When? I dunno, and NO, it wasn't performance art. -

Re: ghosts at SFAI?
Thu, August 12, 2004 - 12:50 AMi was a student at SFAI BFA and MFA from 1979 to 85 and yes there was a hanging but it was an auto erotic incident and I was there when they were taking the kid out. he was in drag and had the Pink Panther soundtrack playing over and over again. No it was not a performance. and yes there are ghosts. I lived in the building for a year and outside in the parking lot studio. -

SFAI hijinks
Thu, August 12, 2004 - 11:03 AMI heard tow other interesting stories:
A) some student did a piece involving a classmate signing a waiver stating anything could happen to him/her in the next 10 minutes. Apparently, they were blindfolded and possible defecated/forced to receive or receive oral as part of a New Genres piece. anyone care to embellish?
2) another student invited their professors for a crit in one at a time for a massage. The massage ended with the fculty member on their belly. They were allowed to get up at their leisure to see a loaded gun sitting on the teble next to and pointed at their head. -

Re: SFAI hijinks
Mon, January 2, 2006 - 4:48 PMYes sir! I was there for both incidents.I've met enema boy and the fucking moron who signed the contract over the last few years I was in the Bay Area. It might sound lame but when I came there I had some pride in that school. When I graduated I couldn't believe in the character that the student body and the school as a whole lacked. It was my mistake. I thought I was going into a school or community, but I ended up on a pirate island on North Beach sans the talent of Kathy Acker, Hakim Bey, Burroughs and other transgresive thinkers. Thank goodness that I was able to do good work there, make a couple of friends... really, only two...keep in touch with the few good teachers that they have over there, who gave me a great recommedations for the Ivy League school I'm at now. That school's got a lot of exorcising to do. -

Re: ghosts at SFAI?
Thu, August 12, 2004 - 7:12 PMit happened in the room ,film room beyond print making and the mailroom. The guard was freaked out cause she found him, a few of us had pulled an all nighter and I watched it in the morning.
I also believe there was a ghost in the painting studios. I lived in the first one for a short time, above the teachers room, the loft -

Re: ghosts at SFAI? should be changed to....
Sat, December 17, 2005 - 12:51 PMThe hanging or auto erotic accident happened in Studio 8 and George Kuchar found the young man in question. Also, a woman jumped from the tower over 50 years ago. I conducted a sound recording of the tower overnight and got some strange sounds of doors opening and slamming! A document of a seance conducted in the early seventies exsists and is on file in the library along with a fake ghost slide for anyone who cares.
The guards always hear strange sounds from their posts. I saw a woman walking around the painting studios when I was a student there. She had on what looked like amish clothing. The guard told me that I was the only student in the building at the time. Also, the school is built on the site of an old army hospital because the first building burned down, so the people conducting the seance I mentioned earlier, claimed that there was a lot of tension and confused spirits walking around the place: sound familiar? -

Re: ghosts at SFAI? should be changed to....
Tue, December 27, 2005 - 9:45 AMLate nights in the printmaking department we always heard someone coming up the steps and then no one would be there. I was a monitor and would have to stay late even if no one was working, which was often, and would get spooked because of the footsteps either coming up the steps or walking around if I was downstairs but when I'd go check no one was there.
All the monitors had stories like that, I think cause printmaking is part of the old building and it's so isolated sometimes. Creepy it was, but fun blaring the music, printing away and smoking on the balcony late at night.

Re: ghosts at SFAI?
Wed, July 19, 2006 - 2:02 PMI worked as a guard on the graveyard shift in the late 80's, when they still used students for guarding work. I used to bring my dog to work with me on my shift and he would refuse to go up to the printmaking dept. when I made my rounds punching the time clock. He would run all the way around the building and meet me in the painting studios. This was highly unusual and he never showed this type of behavior any place else. I also got a seriouus vibe one night walking along the catwalk above the cermaic studios, as if someone was following me.
I spoke with other guards and they all had their own experiences and advised to just make peace with them somehow.

Re: ghosts at SFAI?
Fri, September 7, 2007 - 12:40 PMIt sounds a little ridiculous but close to Halloween I was on my way to the bathroom upstairs next to the library and I opened the girls bathroom door and the door didn't close behind me.. it was like someone was behind me and bumped it to keep it open..
i literally turned around thinking it was another student... I then went into one of the stalls and though there was no one else in the room it felt like someone was in there. It wasn' scary as much as it was just strange.
